• Bangkok is the capital and the most famous city in Thailand. Its official name is Krung ThepMahaNakhon, abbreviated as Krung Thep (meaning the city of angels). It was established in 1782 by King Rama I as the capital of Thailand. The total area of Bangkok is approximately 1,568.7 square kilometers (605.7 sq mi) and located in the Chao Phraya River delta in Central Thailand. It has a population of over eight million (12 percent of the country’s population).
